Experiences guide
Beyond the gaming floor
The spa, the show, the pool and the day trip are often what make a resort stay memorable.
Things to do
What most guests remember
For many visitors the highlights of a casino hotel stay have nothing to do with gaming. These are the facilities worth asking about before you book.
Spa and wellness
Thermal suites, saunas and treatment rooms. Day passes are often sold separately from treatments, so ask what is included.
Pools
Some pools are adults-only or close seasonally. Cabanas and day beds usually need booking ahead in summer.
Live entertainment
Theatres and lounges host concerts, comedy and residencies. Box-office tickets are usually cheaper than package bundles.
Golf and outdoors
Resort golf courses, hiking trails and beaches nearby can turn a short break into a fuller holiday.
Shopping
Many large resorts have promenades of shops and galleries that are free to wander.
Day trips
Look beyond the resort. Nearby towns, wineries, parks and museums are often the best part of the trip.
Planning
Making the most of a short stay
How far ahead should I book shows?
Popular residencies can sell out weeks ahead. Smaller lounge acts often need no ticket at all.
Can non-residents use the spa or pool?
Policies vary. Some resorts sell day passes to visitors, others restrict facilities to hotel guests. Check the property's website.
Are there activities for families?
Some resorts are firmly adults-oriented while others have kids' clubs and family pools. Check age rules for each facility before you travel.
